I would add the following questions:

How will be my competitors, and how likely is it that they'll crush me before I get a chance to sell anything? (It's simply stupid to build a company around selling concepts to car companies. I can regale you with the exciting story of the 20 year fight over intermitted windshield wipers, if you're that bored)

Is this going to be a lifestyle business (me and a few employees, making enough to live on, supporting this product), an IPO (huge upsides, huge downsides possible), or aquisition bait (and who out there might acquire me)?

Why hasn't anyone else solved this problem? Am I missing some fundamental limiter/issue/lack of actual business interest?

I can generally recommend Nolo Press' books on intellectual property as well as starting up a business & writing business plans.

Just from my experience with (mostly failed) start-ups that I've worked with...
