Here are the pictures I got at NorWesCon. I borrowed a coworker's Sony DSC T-1, the first digital point-and-shoot that I've seen that has decent optics (hmm, yummy zeiss lens), to see if I want to get one. After much consideration, I have concluded that I definitely do. Geek lust at its finest...

There were these amazing Badgers...

And another one...

We were trying to get a good shot of her (very subtle) fangs, but couldn't quite pull it off. But its still a nice pic.

I even managed to coax Sienna out to have dinner with me and hang out a bit, although there was some argument about whether or not she'd let me take a picture.

And last but certainly not least, the dress that is going to get [livejournal.com profile] animegothgrrl into So Much Trouble... (at least, if she keeps wearing it to conventions it will) ('Cause I'm a Goth, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah)

And now I know what Sienna looks like... Heh.

A camera counterproposal.

I was looking at getting the Sony DSC-T1, too, as it is a very sweet piece of tech. Unfortunately once you add in that you have to use Sony-proprietary storage (okay, licensed to lexar, but still higher than most other flash storage), and Sony-proprietary batteries (no 3rd-party ones that I know of), the actual cost of ownership starts climbing pretty quickly.

That, and having no optical viewfinder is bothersome to me; like a splinter in my brain.

Take a look at the Canon Powershot SD500. Decent optics, 7.1 megapickles, uses SD, and is made by a company that understands that consumer electronics are supposed to last outside of the warranty.

Thanks! Its was good to 'catch up' (without actually attending the convention). ;)
