Gosh, that was quick
Oct. 27th, 2008 01:42 pmSenator Stevens, R-AK, has been found guilty by a jury in Washington, DC, on seven counts of lying on Federal financial disclosure forms.
The jury had been deliberating barely a week, although they had had some drama, with one juror apparently being quite disruptive, and a juror having to be replaced by an alternate due to a family emergency.
No word yet on whether an appeal is scheduled, but this is expected to put a serious pall over Stevens currently quite close reelection campaign in Alaska. This also gives a boost to the Democrat's attempts to achieve a sufficiently large majority in the Senate to overcome Republican filibusters in the next congress.
