What's your philosophy on recording bass drums in orchestras? Record it naturally so that it sounds like what you would hear if you were in the audience in a nice hall? OR Mic it separately and push it up in the mix so that you can get some earth shattering kabooms?

Whenever I hear it, I think of the NY Museum of Natural History, cause they used it in their tv commercials when I was small, and it burned in.
